Nowadays this shape of shimekazari is widely known under the name “spectacles”. In older times there are similar designs, which are made from three circles. It is said they symbolize the three generations of a family, and are a wish for the prosperity of the family. Understood as spectacles they promise a glimpse into a bright New Year. While the sacred ropes for shrines and temples are made with a left-hand twist, ropes for daily life are usually done with a right-hand twist. The spectacles combine one right-hand and one left-hand twist circle. A beautiful and sculptural artefact, the spectacles can be enjoyed as a pure objet d’art. We offer them in two different weights.
Each of shimekazari will be delivered in a gift box.
