KADO Isabur˘

"As I see it, crafting a good lacquer piece depends on several things: the materials provided by nature, the tools, the craftsmen who work on it, and the people who are going to use it in their lives and who will awaken its beauty. None of these elements can be left out and none should get too much emphasis.

What attracts me to working as a craftsman is its repetitiveness. Doing the same thing, the same motion again and again. These repetitions help me to get some distance from myself.

An absolutely perfect lacquer bowl has - at least for me - something dismissive about it. One doesn’t really want to touch it, to bring it into its own life."
