YAMAMOTO Takahiro

"A blade that cuts well gets used every day. And in time it wears out and gets thrown away. The things I make are intended for use in everyday life. It’s not important to me if they are around for generations, but rather that they do their job in the here and now. The fact that they will disappear is natural.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t take my work seriously. I strive to find the best possible materials and I’m strict with myself as if I were making objects for eternity.

To develop original forms it’s important to go through the world with open eyes. For example, an idea for the curve of a tray came to me as I was looking at the bumper of a VW beetle."
